I spent three days going to Mysore. First I went to the Devaraja market. It was very similar to the Russel market in Bangalore.

The next day I went to St. Philomena's Cathedral. This is one of the tallest churches in India.

Then I went to the Maharaja Wodyears palace. Very beautiful. From what the guide was telling me he lives in a section of the palace. I also took a picture of his car!

Then I was off to the Jaganmohan Palace. this was a retreat for the royal family. Now it is a museum.

From there I went to Chamundi Hill. At the top is a statue of the demon Mahishasura and an 11th century temple. Coming down I stopped to see the Nandi Bull (Lord Shiva's Mount). Here I got photos of monkeys on motorcycles.

I had lunch at the Lalita Mahal. This is the palace of Krishnaraja Wodeyar the fourth, now a hotel.

Then I went to Somanathapur. This is a 12th century Hindu temple about 15 miles south of Mysore. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and clean.

In the evening I went to Brindivan gardens. It is situated at the base of a dam, and has many fountains among the gardens. In the evening the light them up.

The next and final day I headed back to Bangalore, but stopped in Srirangapatna. This was the former capitol of the Tipu Sultan. The Tipu Sultan the son of Haider Ali fought the British until 1799 when he was killed in battle against them. I went to the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, built in the 8th century. I also visited Col Bailey Dungeon, the ruins of the Tipu's Palace, and the outer walls of the fort.

From there I went to the Tipu's summer palace and gardens.
